Dr. Natasha Halfkenny

Melanin Scholars Founder and CEO Dr. Natasha Halfkenny

Based in Boston and most recently, Connecticut, Dr. Natasha Halfkenny has served as the chief executive officer of Melanin Scholars, LLC. In this role, she not only oversees comprehensive academic tutoring, but also manages emotional wellness and provides financial literacy and career preparation training, resulting in both improved academic performance and enhanced student confidence. Dr. Natasha Halfkenny balances her work with Melanin Scholars with her position as an adjunct professor at a Community College and her leadership responsibilities with a public school district.

During her career in education, Dr.Halfkenny has contributed to several papers and studies, including Through the Eyes of Successful Black Males. Published by ProQuest Publishing, the study explored the llived experiences of successful Black males who navigated institutional racism while completing their studies in higher education. While conducting the study she implemented Social Identity Theory, as well as Critical Race Theory.

Dr. Halfkenny studied philosophy as an undergraduate at Northeastern University. She continued her education at Simmons College, earning a Master of Arts in Education. She returned to Northeastern to receive her Doctorate in International Higher Education Administration.
